Head Coach

 

Iris Carpio |  Head Volleyball Coach

Iris Carpio will enter her sixth season as the head volleyball coach at Mount Holyoke College during the 2022-23 academic year. Carpio also serves as a lecturer in the Physical Education department at the College.

Education

  • Florida International University - Cum Laude - Bachelor of Science, Physical Education (2002)
  • University of Florida - Master's of Science, Applied Physiology and Kinesiology-Human Performance (2017)

At Mount Holyoke College

  • In her first season with the Lyons, Carpio helped guide the squad to a 10-12 overall record, the most wins for the team since the 2013 campaign. Mount Holyoke also knocked off WPI for their first NEWMAC win since the 2014 season.
  • Has had nine student-athletes earn NEWMAC Academic All-Conference honors for having a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or better
  • Helped Sasha Simine '20 break Mount Holyoke volleyball program records in single-season hitting % and career hitting %
  • Simine was also a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-District honoree

Prior Coaching Experience

  • Assistant Volleyball Coach / Strength and Conditioning Coach - Santa Fe College (2015-17)
  • Helped program to a record of 40-21 including a trip to the NJCAA Final Four
  • Club Volleyball Coach - Vision Volleyball Club, Gainesville, Fla.
  • Coached 18U College Prep Club Team to USAV Nationals
  • Head Coach - Voleimiami Volleyball Club
  • Coached 18U, 17U and 14U teams
  • Developmental Skills Coach - Voleimiami Volleyball Club
  • For 14U and 16U teams
  • Head Volleyball Coach - Southwest Miami Senior High School
  • Led team to 126-48 record in seven seasons, including four regional semifinal appearances
  • Coached an FACA All-Star, a Gates Millennium Scholarship recipient, five Class 8A All-County First Team selections
  • Coached the boys' junior varsity team to a 16-0 record as the head coach in 2014

Playing Experience

  • Florida International University (1998-2002)
  • Standout four-year student-athlete and two-time captain at FIU
  • Captain of team that claimed 2001 Sunbelt Conference Championship and advanced to the NCAA Division I Regional Second Round.
  • Three-time Sunbelt Conference Academic Honor Roll and three-time Dean's List Selection.
  • FIU Athletics Judith Blucker Leadership Award Recipient
